WHS Football Players Help Police Find Crash Suspect

Three Watertown High School football players are earning widespread praise for helping police track down a drunk driving suspect.
Riaz Khan, Joel Montoya, and Boran Akisik were walking home from football practice last Thursday when they witnessed a car crash at the intersection of Palfrey Street and Pearl Street. Two vehicles collided after a black car allegedly ran a stop sign, crashing into a pizza delivery driver. The driver of the black car allegedly attempted to flee the scene, but the players tracked the car and wrote down the license plate.
A short time later, the driver allegedly drove by the scene and was pointed out to police by the players, who had stayed on the scene to help officers with their investigation.
“These are three great kids,” WHS football coach Joey Carroll told Boston 25 news. “We need to put others before us. Where’s your heart? Is your heart in the right place? I think that was a great example, that those kids put their heart in the right place.”
