We look for applicants who demonstrate genuine interest in the position and our school community. Strong applications clearly highlight experience, transferable skills, and attention to detail. Applications will ask for a resume, a cover letter, and three professional references.
It is helpful if your cover letter speaks to why you are interested in the position you are applying for and the skills and talents you believe you will bring to the position. Clear, concise writing that best presents your experience and qualifications is appreciated by all.
Basic Requirements for Educators:
- Teachers are required to have a Bachelor’s degree and to hold appropriate Massachusetts teacher licensure/certification applicable to their role.
- School administrators are required to have a Master’s degree and to hold appropriate Massachusetts administrative licensure certification.
New Hire Information
During onboarding, our Human Resources team works closely with new employees to guide benefits enrollment and complete all hiring documents. Most of our onboarding paperwork is electronic through PowerSchool Records.

CORI, SORI, and Fingerprinting
In addition to the forms in the onboarding checklist, all new hires must complete a CORI, SORI, and be fingerprinted.

*If you were previously fingerprinted for another public school district in MA within the last 7 years, you can request that district send us a Letter of Suitability to satisfy our fingerprint requirement.
Educator Licensure Information
It is each employee’s responsibility to obtain and maintain the required Massachusetts educator licensure. The Human Resources team can provide guidance, but all applications and renewals must be completed by the employee.

New Teacher Educator Program
Teachers new to Watertown Public Schools will participate in the New Educator Induction Program. Our mentor committee will reach out with information prior to the start of the school year. New teachers will engage in a series of induction sessions designed to build community, deepen instructional practice, and provide ongoing support. Topics include goal setting, communication with families, student data analysis, and evidence collection for supervision and evaluation. Participants will also take part in a book study, collaborate with mentors, and engage in classroom consultancy experiences. Instructional Assistant Mentor Program
Instructional Assistants new to Watertown Public Schools will participate in a 90-day mentorship program to help adjust to their new role. Mentors and mentees will meet one-on-one throughout the first 90 days of employment as a supportive and informative partnership where you can connect with colleagues and bring forth problems of practice in a safe space.
