About the District
The Watertown Public Schools provide education to pre-school through twelfth grade students in three elementary schools, one middle school, and one comprehensive high school. In addition to academic programs, the Watertown Public Schools offer after school programs, summer school, enrichment programs, and numerous athletic opportunities.
In FY11 there are 2,649 students enrolled in Watertown Public Schools (preschool to 12). According to the Massachusetts Department of Education's fall 2010 updated race/ethnicity categories, Watertown's student body is 73% White, 11.1% Hispanic, 7.7% Asian, 4.1% African American, 3.3% Multi-racial, .2% Pacific Islander, and 0.6% Native American. Approximately 30% of students come from homes where English is not the first language. About 284 students are enrolled in the English Language Learner (ELL) program.
