Watertown High School students, are you interested in running a TV Show? Watertown Community Access Center, our local cable TV station located in the high school, has free training for starting a TV show. Watertown High School students used to run a regularly scheduled news show about Watertown High School. We'd love to bring that show back. If you're interested in working on that show - as a reporter, a cameraperson, a director, or a behind-the-scenes editor - please email Ms. Ventura at vventura@watertown.k12.ma.us and plan on attending WCAC's new program workshops on Tuesday, November 9th and Tuesday, November 16th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Congratulations to our new Headmaster Steven Watson
& Associate Headmaster Annmarie Boudreau!

[Click here for more information]March 2009
Dear Watertown Parent /Resident:
We are pleased to share with you the seventh annual Report Card for the Watertown Public Schools. The federal legislation, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), requires all states, school districts, and schools to report student assessment results and teacher qualifications to the community on an annual basis. This report card contains information for our school district and its schools including: Educator Data, Accountability Status, and Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) results.
The purpose of the annual District and School Report Cards is to give parents and residents information about the schools in terms of academic achievement of students and professional qualifications of teachers. Please review the detailed annual District Report Card for Watertown, and each of the annual School Report Cards on this website.
If you have questions, please contact the Superintendent's Office.
Sincerely,
Steven A. Hiersche, Ed.D.
Summer vacation took on a whole new meaning this year for 14 students and 2
teachers from Watertown High School. "Raiders Down Under," a student group organized nearly two years ago in Mr. Hiltunen's
Biology classes, took the ultimate field trip halfway across the planet to visit Australia. |

Travis Roy spoke to students at Watertown High School yesterday......

Tuesday May 20th was a special day at Watertown High School. Former Boston University hockey player, Travis Roy, now a motivational speaker and author of Eleven Seconds, spoke to the students about the importance of following one’s dreams and how his life changed in a matter of seconds.
Roy spoke to a mesmerized audience of students in 2 separate assemblies. The former hockey player suffered a severe spinal cord injury in 1995, which paralyzed him from the neck down after just eleven seconds on the ice. Although wheelchair bound, Travis talked to his young audience about setting goals, and the importance of a positive attitude.
He was met with standing ovations at the end of each of his assemblies and those in attendance were all taken with his ability to connect to students and adults alike.
Travis was presented with a Watertown jacket and cap as a thank-you. This program was sponsored by the Watertown High School PTSO and was made possible by grant funding through the Watertown/ Harvard and Watertown/O’Neill Properties Charitable Trust.

Another huge success for the students of Ms. Johnson's Food Service/Hospitality classes as they planned, prepared, presented and served their third Raider Cafe Luncheon of this school year. On the menu were sensational chicken noodle soup with grandma's refrigerator wheat rolls followed by two desserts-yummy chocolate cake and delectable heart-shaped "cream" puffs. The last luncheon is planned for May!
