Search for your topic in the WHS Library Catalog. First try an ALL WORD search and then try the phrase “social issues” and see if your topic appears in the list of available books.

Try these search strategies:

  • Yahoo Directory  - a directory lists web sites by category and subcategory and it can help you find correct terms for your research
  • Yippy - a metasearch engine that searches many search engines at once and clusters the results by topics
  • Google Scholar - searches across many sources and supplies links that include peer-reviewed papers, abstracts and articles.
  • Sweet Search - searches reviewed and chosen by a team of experts in various fields.

Remember to evaluate each web site before you consider using it for a secondary source.

Use the criteria listed on WHS Library Web Page and the criteria and the evaluation criteria developed by Susan E. Beck, Collection Development Coordinator, New Mexico State University Library.
