This is a multimedia math glossary by Harcourt School Publishers for ThinkMath! It includes math vocabulary used in the Grade 1 - Grade 5 math curriculum that is used in the Watertown Elementary Schools. This Web site also has audio available which can be activated by clicking on the speaker that is displayed on each page.

General Math Web Sites

Think Math!

This Web site is created by Harcourt School Publishers and supports our Think Math! curriculum. It is structured by grade levels K through 5. It includes activities in the following categories: number, operations, data analysis, probability, geometry, measurement, time and money.

Rainforest Maths

Includes interactive math activities for elementary students in grades Kindergarten through grade 6 created by Jenny Eather. This site is structured by grade level and includes activities for each grade level in numbers, algebra, measurement and geometry.

Math Playground

This Web site has a variety of math-related activities including: math games, word problems, logic puzzles, math videos, computation practice, and math manipulatives. This site is not structured by grade level as are several of the others listed on this page, so you will need to locate the activities that are appropriate for your child.

National Library of Virtual Manipulatives

This Web site created by Utah State University contains many interactive manipulatives to assist students in visualizing math. It is structured by grade level ranges including Pre-K through 2, and grades 3 through 5. It includes activities in the following categories: number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis and probability. It also supports mulitple languages including Spanish and French.

Illuminations, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)

This Web site has several math resources and is structured by grade level ranges including Pre-K through 2 and grades 3 through 5. This site includes the option to search interactive activities by grade range. In addition, there is a web links search feature which provides web links to other web resources in the following categories: number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement and data analysis and probability.

Math Web Sites for Early Learners

Count Us In

This Web site is produced by Carol McLean-Carr (ABC Learn Online) and includes math activities and games for younger students. It is designed to help students understand basic math concepts.

PBS Parents Guide to Early Math

This Web site includes activites that are not web based and online games for students in grades Prek - K and grades 1 - 2. Like many of the other sites, the online activities fall into the same 5 math categories including numbers, geometry, measurement, algebra and probability.

Literacy Education Center Network

This Web site for early learners includes some very basic activities in numbers and shapes.

Math Web Sites for Fact Practice

This Web site provides fact practice in the following operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

AplusMath

This Web site includes several flashcard activities. There are online flashcards that you can use to practice your facts in all four operations. In addition, there is a flashcard creator which allows you to create and print flashcards that are specific to your child's learning needs.
